The camp boasts sweeping views overlooking an expansive and active waterhole, with the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range forming a breath taking backdrop. With our eco-friendly camp, great hosting, authentic accommodation and thrilling game drives, guests are assured an unforgettable experience.
Tangala Safari Camp is one of earliest established safari camps in Thornybush. Being established in 1940 Tangala is entrenched in the history of the region. In 2016, the safari camp underwent a renovation that saw the introduction to 6 new luxury colonial tents. A major addition was the transition to an eco-friendly approach to the operation of the safari camp.
All the power is sourced from solar renewable energy. This decision was made to ensure our responsibility to planet and the sustainability of the ecology in the area is achieved.
In 2017 Thornybush dropped its fences adjoining the world-renowned Kruger National Park. This resulted in the free movement of wildlife in the area as well as treasured safari experiences.
Accommodation comprises 6 luxury tents and 4 authentic bush chalets, complete with covered patios, twin beds under mosquito nets and ensuite bathrooms which include his and her basins, shower and toilet. Tangala retains its authenticity and closeness to nature and runs “off the grid”, boasting solar power and natural gas to fuel the camp. The camp itself is rustic and authentic with an informal and relaxed atmosphere, perfect to unwind and to get back in touch with nature.
