In the heart of Big 5 Safari country in Southern Africa, lies Tangala – the most authentic safari camp in the internationally renowned Thornybush game reserve. Tangala safari camp is unfenced, has no electricity and our guests love the relaxation of campfires, paraffin lamps and no cell phones ringing. All meals are provided, as are the guided game drives in our open vehicles. Wildlife is prolific in this reserve and our very relaxed game means almost guaranteed spotting of a couple of the big 5 on every trip. Birding enthusiasts will find a haven here, too. It is one of the ultimate spot for raptor viewing.

It’s not unusual to have cheetah at sunrise, buffalo at sunset and antelope, zebra, giraffe, baboons, warthog.
Accommodation
The five thatch-roofed units each sleep two people, accommodating a maximum of 10 guests to ensure a personal bush experience. Each fully serviced room is en-suite, with hot water provided by gas or authentic wood-burning geysers (in South Africa we call them Donkeys). You’ll enjoy your private viewing deck, the cosy blankets for cold nights and the romantic netting and fresh breezes for summer evenings.

But just sitting on the deck at Tangala offers unparalleled game viewing, as our water hole lures the game towards your African Big 5 experience: it’s not unusual to have cheetah at sunrise, buffalo at sunset and antelope, zebra, giraffe, baboons, warthog – an entire cast for your personal wildlife documentary – in between.
