On game drives you are able to get a lot closer to big game. Because it is a private reserve, rangers have permission to go off road. The animals are generally habituated to the vehicle. This means that they are used to the vehicle approaching them and know that it never causes them harm. This enables to you to get within five to 10 metres of the large animals – and safely! All game drives are conducted in open 4 x 4 Toyota Land Cruisers or Land Rovers.
During the dry season the vegetation is sparse and wildlife congregates around watering holes. During the wet season the vegetation is dense and wildlife is more dispersed. Expect to see the Big 5 over the course of a 2-3 night stay. There is a resident pride of lions called the River Pride that is often spotted close to the banks of the Klaserie River. Sit on top of the rocky outcrops and spot the Big 5 in the valley below, or simply marvel at the sweeping views of the African bush. Your ranger will take you to the dam, which serves as a local drinking spot for a variety of wildlife. Keen twitchers will delight in the array of birds on display throughout this area.
