Overview
Take a legendary journey and explore the wondrous beauty of Jock Safari Lodge!
Jock Safari Lodge is a place that buries you in African legends and enthralling natural landscapes. The lodge is named after ‘Jock of the Bushveld’, a famous Bull Terrier dog that lived for his adventures in the very same area. His stories were captured by the author Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, and several popular films of his bravery have also been made. Guests will be fascinated by the original mementos of Jock at the lodge, and will also see a statue of the famous dog. The lodge is perfectly placed in the Kruger National Park, one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa, just a two hour drive from the Kruger National Airport and about five hours from Johannesburg. It is a 6000 hectare piece of wilderness paradise, thriving with birdlife, wildlife and African nature, and nestled where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers come together.
The facilities and activities of the Jock Safari Lodge are first-class, and offer a unique and luxury bushveld experience. With entertaining game drives, peaceful walking safaris, a fully-equipped spa and stunning star-lit dinners there is never a dull moment. Another amazing feature of the surrounding landscape is the 3000 year old rock art that depicts the lifestyle and beliefs of the San people who once travelled the area. It is a truly rare experience to examine this ancient art. Decide if you would prefer to stay in the beautifully thatched suites of the Main Jock Lodge, or in the luxury rooms of the nearby Fitzpatrick’s Lodge.

Main Jock Lodge ensures guests will experience a stay of seclusion and in pure harmony with the natural surroundings. Each leads on to a private deck with plunge pool and a Sala, an outdoor day bed, all with a spectacular view of the riverbed. The Fitzpatrick lodge welcomes families with children or small groups of friends, with stunning and spacious rooms and friendly hospitality. The lodge’s design creates a lovely, intimate atmosphere and plenty of space for private relaxation as well as friendly interaction with other guests. It also features the wonderful Pilgrim’s Rest Relaxation Retreat with a sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy bath.
Game Drives
The most effective way to explore the ‘Jock of the Bushveld’ territory is on the game drives. The drives are conducted by expert rangers who know just where to find all the animals you want to see. You will travel in covered 4×4 Land rovers that go out in the mornings and evenings. At these times the animals of the reserve are more active.During an evening game drive, the ranger will stop at a vantage point that offers spectacular views over the Kruger National Park. Here, guests will be offered sundowners while they take in the magical scenery and listen to some interesting bush tales told by the rangers. A magnificent experience while watching the sky changing colours as the sun begins to set. You head back to the lodge in darker wilderness, and experience an exciting trip spotting nocturnal predators such as leopard, lion and hyena.
