The 3500 hectare Bateleur property is located in the heart of the world renowned Timbavati Private Nature Reserve
On this exclusive property we proudly offer Bateleur Safari Camp, an 8-bed up-market Safari Camp. All artificial barriers between the Timbavati and the adjacent Kruger National Park have been removed and the Bateleur property itself shares unfenced borders with Kruger. This prime wilderness area boasts the Big Five, a large diversity of antelope species, the entire range of smaller predators, over 500 bird species, and a tremendous diversity of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
Accommodation
Accommodating 2-8 people, Bateleur Safari Camp offers 4 comfortable safari tents with a unique design. Each tent has: a thatched A-frame roof with supporting gum-pole structure and covered patio; canvas sides with large windows offering fixed mosquito screens and roll-down flaps; double wooden front doors with fixed mosquito screens and roll-down flaps for the top half; a large en-suite bathroom. Each unit sleeps 2 persons in upmarket comfort with spacious & comfortable beds, quality linen, bedside tables with solar powered bedside lamps, wardrobes & adequate storage facilities, and a solar powered fan for the hot weather. Plug points are provided for charging camera batteries but hair dryers cannot be used due to the excessive load that they place on the system.
Activities
Clients staying at Bateleur Safari Camp will enjoy daily morning and afternoon-evening guided game drives in an open safari vehicle with a qualified ranger & tracker. Each guided game drive is approx. 3-4 hours in duration, with a break midway for coffee & biscuits (mornings) or sun downer drinks & snacks (evenings). During the guided game drives you can view the magnificent wildlife & birdlife up close from the comfort of the open safari vehicle, using spotlights after sun downers to search for the nocturnal creatures. And if we hear the lions roaring close to camp, or pick up the signs of a kill or anything interesting nearby, you have the option of climbing aboard the open safari vehicle to go and have a look, any time day or night!
