On the exclusive Timbavati Private Nature Reserve property we proudly offer Bateleur Mobile Camp, a very rustic tented safari camp, which is pitched in a different location for each group booking
Bateleur Mobile Camp boasts the Big Five, a large diversity of antelope species, the entire range of smaller predators, over 500 bird species, and a tremendous diversity of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. All artificial barriers between the Timbavati and the adjacent Kruger National Park have been removed and the Bateleur property itself shares unfenced borders with Kruger.
Accommodation
Accommodating 4-18 people, Bateleur Mobile Camp offers accommodation in the form of Adventure Bow Tents pitched on the ground. Each tent is 2.1m x 2.1m and sleeps 2 persons comfortably on thick camping mattresses. Bedding and towels are provided. Central ablutions are provided in the form of 2 “bucket showers” with heated water and 2 bush toilets each offering a proper toilet seat over a pit in the ground – toilet paper is provided. The water provision includes a 1500 litre steel water trailer and a water heating container for the bucket showers.
Activities
For the duration of their Bateleur safari, each small group staying at Bateleur Mobile Camp will have exclusive use of the camp’s open safari vehicle(s) and guide and tracker team(s). This is a truly flexible safari option and each group can choose to drive or walk as much as they want to. We cater for those who are first timers to Africa and want to see as much game as possible, as well as those who want to absorb the finer detail of the bush on foot. Guided game drives are offered in an open safari vehicle with a qualified ranger & tracker. An average guided game drive is approx. 3-4 hours in duration, with a break midway for coffee & biscuits (mornings) or sun downer drinks & snacks (evenings).
